Every Day

Six months after the original DI was completed at another post facility, Every Day’s team faced a challenge of inserting some new scenes as well as extending some portions of the existing reels.In order to preserve as much of the original grade as possible, Quantel Pablo’s unique archive andre-conform capabilities allowed all of the original source media, color, visual effects, and titles to be maintained and used as a base for rebuilding the project.

After importing Pablo’s archive of the DI from DLT tape, the Light Iron team picked up exactly where the previous DI had left off. From the re-edited Avid EDLs, additional R3D source material was automatically detected and imported at full debayer. The details of the change lists, including extended or truncated clips as well as entirely new material, were automatically color coded in the Pablo timeline for ease of identification by both the conform editor and colorist (see center picture above).

By keeping the original color corrected media intact, these looks were effortlessly re-applied to the new material. Through the Pablo archive, any change can be easily incorporated into original DI sessions at minimal cost without redundancy.
