The Muppets was the first theatrical feature from the franchise in more than 12 years and the first shot digitally. The Muppets’ comeback film was also one of the early opportunities for Disney to use RED. Because of OUTPOST and other on-set tools, The Muppets production was able to shoot completely independent from any post house, watching ProRes 422 transcodes the same day of the shoot. This step was key for proving that the RED camera could effectively capture Muppet “skin tones”.
